Have you ever wondered how other people with similar disabilities are living independently?
ACIL has a support group that is conducted by people with disabilities. This group meets monthly and discusses issues and topics chosen by the group - issues and concerns that other people would not necessarily understand. Members of the group are slowly gaining confidence, social interaction skills and developing a support network that many did not have before - especially newly disabled members.
Since the group wanted to participate in integrated activities in the community, ACIL has established a small fund from donations to enable them to take part in recreational activities. So far the group has gone bowling a number of times, enjoyed a few fishing trips and celebrated the holidays with their own Christmas dinner.
If you have a disability and would like to join the group, please contact us at: (304)965-0376 or TDD (800) 642-3003
