2023 West Virginia Disability History Essay Contest for High School Seniors


The topic for this year's essay is "Career Paths for Youth with Disabilities: The Past, Present, and Future."

This contest is a collaborative effort of the WV Division of Rehabilitation Services, the Statewide Independent Living Council and the State Rehabilitation Council, with cooperation from the WV Department of Education.

The top award will be presented to the state winner, and awards may be presented to first-place and second-place entries from six Districts of our state. The awards are as follows:

State Winner $3,250

District First Place (6) $1,750

District Second Place (6) $1,000

Information about the contest has been sent to all the schools and contacts in the state. Please help spread the word to your contacts, friends, and families of seniors in your area.

Mountaineer Food Bank


Mountaineer Food Bank is the largest emergency food provider in West Virginia distributing over 16.7 million pounds annually. MFB provides food and other household items to over 450 feeding programs in 48 counties in West Virginia. These programs include food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, senior programs, Veterans Table programs, mobile pantry programs, school food pantry and backpack programs.
